Inside the Basque Culinary Center

Opened in 2011, the BCC is an important reference in Europe regarding gastronomy. But, to know its activity is not neccesary to enroll in the Faculty of Gastronomic Sciences or belong to the Center for Research and Gastronomic Innovation, the general public can also go to the restaurant and check how these possible future great chefs are being formed.

Prior reservation -and only in their website- is required, from Monday to Friday and during the academic year (September- June):

Dish of the day (on the 4th floor restaurant): Prepared by students of the first year of the degree – always supervised by their teachers – this option includes a main dish with dessert for €9. Drinks apart from water are not included. The dish is always made ensuring the presence of protein, carbohydrates or cereals and vegetables. This means there’s a certain dietary study behind.

Menu Culinary Paradigms (on the 3rd floor restaurant): Time for Master students, who are in charge of this modality. This year, for instance, these tasting menus are inspired by the different periods of human history, and by the time of June they will be arriving to the Industrial Revolution and the French nouvelle cuisine.

So far, we have tried the dish of the day and both the food and the service were excellent, showing the high standards marked by the school. For dessert we had a delicious panna cotta, but hurries for tasting it were the reason for the non-picture, ouch.
